Position Title: Campus Ambassador – Empower U Voting Project
Organization: North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) / NCAAT in Action
Location: College/University Campuses across North Carolina
Compensation: $3,000 stipend (distributed in two installments)
Duration: August 2026 – November 2026


Position Overview

The Empower U Voting Project Campus Ambassador is a student leadership role focused on increasing civic engagement and voter turnout among BIPOC youth across North Carolina campuses. Ambassadors will serve as organizers, educators, and advocates within their campus communities, working in collaboration with NCAAT/NCAAT in Action and a statewide coalition of student leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with BIPOC student organizations and campus communities to promote civic participation.
  • Facilitate discussions on barriers to voting and issues impacting BIPOC communities in the 2026 elections.
  • Organize and host at least one campus event, such as a panel or roundtable on voting importance or access challenges.
  • Conduct voter registration outreach and collect a minimum of 30 voter registration forms.
  • Collaborate with fellow Campus Ambassadors to design and implement a digital civic engagement campaign.
  • Participate in planning and executing a virtual or in-person Get Out the Vote (GOTV) event.
  • Serve as an Election Protection representative on Election Day.

Training and Support

Ambassadors will receive training and ongoing support from NCAAT/NCAAT in Action, including:

  • Voter registration best practices
  • Developing effective voter engagement strategies and voting plans
  • Tools and strategies to combat voter suppression
  • Regular coaching and mentorship from the Campus Organizing Manager

Program Requirements

To remain in good standing and receive full compensation, Ambassadors must:

  • Attend the Camp Empower Virtual Launch or Lead Local Organizing Training (August 1, 2026).
  • Participate in monthly Empower U Coalition meetings.
  • Attend cohort bi-weekly check-ins with the Campus Organizing Manager.
  • Complete at least 90% of program deliverables and participation requirements.

Compensation Structure

  • First Installment: $1,500 disbursed around August 1, 2026 upon signing agreement and onboarding completion.
  • Second Installment: $1,500 disbursed around November 10, 2026 upon completion of at least 90% of program requirements and confirmed participation.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled student at a North Carolina college or university.
  • Strong interest in civic engagement, social justice, and community organizing.
  • Ability to lead peer engagement efforts and collaborate across diverse student groups.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
