Digital Communications Coordinator

Status: Full-time, exempt (One-Year Term Position)
Salary: $60,000-$65,000 with Benefits
Location: Main office in Raleigh, NC; hybrid (2 days in office / 3 remote). Requires frequent travel across the Triangle and other parts of the state.

NCAAT in Action (NCAATIA) is committed to supporting equity and justice for all by building political power among Asian Americans and allies in North Carolina through voter education, progressive advocacy, and leadership development.

Position Term & Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt, one-year contract position. Continued employment beyond the initial one-year term is contingent upon funding availability and organizational needs and is not guaranteed.

Position Summary

The Digital Communications Coordinator plays a key role in expanding NCAAT and NCAAT in Action’s digital presence through engaging, culturally relevant content and relationship-driven online engagement. This role supports storytelling, digital organizing, and content distribution across social media platforms and online communities to advance civic engagement and political participation among AAPI communities in North Carolina.

The ideal candidate is a creative and adaptable communicator who is comfortable both behind and in front of the camera, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited to learn and grow within a mission-driven communications team.

Key Responsibilities

Relational Organizing & Online Engagement

  • Monitor, engage, and cultivate NCAAT/NCAATIA’s presence across social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and closed digital communities (e.g., Discord, Reddit, Twitch, WhatsApp, WeChat, KakaoTalk).
  • Engage directly with audiences by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries to build trust, strengthen relationships, and grow the online community.
  • Support the creation and coordination of a Digital Messenger/Creator Cohort, including assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and training of community members to share responsive content and counter misinformation.
  • Refer engaged supporters and followers into NCAAT’s membership and volunteer pipelines in collaboration with the Membership and Communications teams.
  • Provide digital support for major NCAAT and NCAAT in Action events as needed.
     

Content Creation

  • Support the planning and execution of social media strategies with a strong emphasis on short-form, vertical video content.
  • Serve as on-camera talent for select videos, presenting key messages, campaign highlights, and organizational updates tailored for social media audiences.
  • Design, edit, and produce digital content in collaboration with Communications staff and local content creators.
  • Edit short-form video content, incorporating sound, transitions, captions, and on-brand graphics.
  • Assist with the development of creative briefs and messaging guidance for outreach to diverse AAPI audiences, including youth, women, and underrepresented communities.
  • Support rapid-response content needs related to civic engagement, elections, and advocacy efforts.
     

Content Distribution & Performance Tracking

  • Identify and support creative digital opportunities to grow NCAAT’s activist, volunteer, and membership base.
  • Assist with distributing content across platforms in alignment with communications plans and campaign timelines.
  • Track basic analytics using platform insights and tools (e.g., social media analytics, Google Analytics) and share performance observations with the Communications team.
  • Adjust content approaches based on feedback, performance trends, and program goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with social media content creation, digital organizing, or online community engagement.
  • Comfort appearing on camera and creating short-form video content.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital storytelling trends.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Commitment to racial justice, equity, and AAPI community empowerment.
  • Nice to have: basic skills in an Asian language.
